Day 1
CHOSEN
I feel unlike I ever have before. It’s like walking outside and having the bright sunlight shine into my eyes. My days were so dark before, and I couldn’t see anything around me. The creatures of the night lurked around me, and I shivered at their mocking voices. I was walking down that lifeless way for so long now. Before this, I would have sworn that was the right way, but now I know there is so much more! I’ve lost the control I thought I had. It’s not the direction everyone else was running, but I don’t doubt my decision. I feel this presence that’s new and so life- giving. It’s not like the creepy shadows I was used to. There’s a whisper, and it’s calling me by name. This whisper is the Savior! Is this joy really all for me?
LISTEN
I saw that you were lost in the world, and I found you wandering in the darkness. I fought to find the way into your heart, because I saw you as precious. In a great attempt of rescue, I reached down and consumed you with my love. I saw so many others walking the wrong way, but you sparked my eye. I chose you as my own for a reason, because I created you with purpose. You have not been chosen on accident, and I will never change my mind. I have chosen you to be one of my own for all of eternity.
READ
1 Peter 2:5 ESV: “As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”
John 15:16 ESV “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”
Deuteronomy 14:2 ESV: “For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.”
REFLECT
Reflect on when the Lord reached down and chose you.
Can you remember how He captured your attention with His glory?
How has your understanding of being “chosen” changed since that day?
Do you trust that you have been chosen for all of eternity?
Who are you in Jesus? Chosen
